Academic Skills Center
Helping you succeed academically

Welcome to the Academic Skills Center (ASC), home for many of YOUR academic needs!

Think you might need help understanding a math formula? We have peer tutoring available for most freshman- and sophomore-level courses. Not sure how you will study for a biology exam? We provide academic counseling, during which an ASC professional will sit down with you and help you find a study method that best fits your learning style. Have a documented disability that is affecting your success in class? Our Disability Services Coordinator can work with you to ensure you have equal access in any of your courses.

If you feel you are putting in the effort but are not getting the results in your classes, the ASC can help!

Services offered:

  • Tutoring – practice course material with a knowledgeable peer tutor who excels in that academic area
  • Academic Counseling – discuss time management, test preparation and more with a qualified ASC professional staff member
  • Disabity Services – arrange academic and living accommodations based on your particular needs
  • Skills-Based Courses – take a or 1- or 2-credit course in study skills and reading comprehension (see the 2007-09 Course Catalog for more information)

Come visit with a staff member in the ASC and see what we have to offer you. The Academic Skills Center is located in room 67 of Griffin Hall.
