Position Responsibilities
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, in Winona, MN invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in history.  As a member of the undergraduate Department of History, the successful candidate will teach courses to undergraduate history majors, service courses for liberal arts majors outside of history, and general education courses for all students in the liberal arts.
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Be qualified to teach introductory and upper division courses in East Asian history or regions bordering the Indian Ocean (East Africa, India or Southeast Asia)
  • Teach courses in US history
  • Teach general education courses to non-history majors in the liberal arts  
  • Serve as academic student advisor to advisees on understanding and reinforcement of course content, academic sequence and program selections that define and develop educational plans
  • Perform activities related to assessment of student learning
  • Participate in commencement exercises, department administrative work, serve on faculty committees as required, and fulfill other required university commitments

Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. in History at time of appointment from an accredited institution of higher learning 
  • Experience in digital humanities/history, public history, and/or online teaching is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in effective mentoring of students in a classroom and individual setting
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in instructional strategies and content delivery models
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
