Campus Safety Officer Part-Time On Call

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Perform lock down functions of all buildings
  • Monitor and respond to fire, door, and other alarms
  • Respond to University medical emergencies according to protocol
  • Enforce campus parking policies
  • Complete clear, concise, and accurate incident reports and daily logs
  • Communicate safety hazards to responsible departments and Director of Campus Safety
  • Provide medical and safety escorts on campus
  • Provide security support during University events
  • Provide Campus Safety Desk support including dispatch/switchboard, directions, University contact information, lost & found, and other related services
  • Educate/Enforce policies outlined in the Student Handbook
  • Issue student and staff parking permits and administer University motor pool
  • Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions
  • Establish a positive rapport with students, staff and visitors to campus
  • Assist and collaborate with Residence Life Staff
  • Supervise and train student workers
  • Complete vehicle and walking patrols of all University owned properties including on and off campus grounds, parking lots, trail system, and all buildings
  • Provide emergency response to various incidents and hazards, both man-made and natural
  • Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, EMPOWER, Simplex Fire System, Access It Universal security system, and Milestone video recording system
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to provide critical thinking skills during rapidly evolving emergency situations

Education and Experience

Qualifications:

  • High school degree
  • College degree preferred
  • 3+ years experience in a safety/security role preferred
