Position Responsibilities

The Costume Designer and Costume Shop/Laboratory Manager will design and oversee the making of costumes for the department of theatre and dance. This role will teach costume and stage makeup design courses and oversee student workers. This position will also maintain the costume shop/laboratory, construct and finish all costumes, makeup, load-ins, and strikes for the Department of Theatre and Dance production season. 

Essential Skills and Abilities
This position requires:
  • Design and construction abilities (hand and machine sewing), operation, and maintenance of specialized equipment and costumes. 
  • Ability to supervise student workers and work with production staff. 
  • Ability to teach costume design and stage makeup.
Pattern making, dyeing and painting, millinery, costume crafts, masks, and wig styling skills preferred.

Education and Experience
Minimum of a Master’s Degree and/or significant professional experience required. Terminal degree preferred.
