Position Responsibilities
The custodian has the primary responsibility for cleaning various university facilities in such a way to promote health, safety and cleanliness. The custodian follows cleaning schedules for various university facilities including, but not limited to, classrooms, dormitories, office areas, bathrooms/showers, storage areas, hallways, and entrances. This position may also be responsible for performing additional duties related to general building and grounds maintenance.  Two full time positions are available on 3rd shift:  10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Tuesday night through Sunday morning, and 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday night through Friday morning.
Essential Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate must:
  • Have effective interpersonal skills to work with students and worker groups.
  • Be neat, well-groomed and maintain company uniforms in good condition.
  • Be able to do heavy lifting, bleacher setup, and other types of physical work.
  • Be able to climb and work from ladders.
  • Be able to work outside in the elements.

Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Up to 2 years of experience is preferred. Building trade schooling preferred but not required. Familiarity with cleaning equipment and dexterity with hand tools desired.
