Position Responsibilities

The Kabara Institute aims to incite a passion for entrepreneurial spirit in students across the university, regardless of their major field of study, to enhance the entrepreneurship program offerings at Saint Mary’s University by providing opportunities for students to interact with entrepreneurs and experience entrepreneurship first-hand, and to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the importance of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in our society

The Director of the Kabara Institute works with its advisory board to implement the vision and mission for the institute in growing its visibility as a resource for students and entrepreneurs, both inside and outside the university. Specifically, the Director:

  • Teaches up to two undergraduate courses each semester in entrepreneurship or general business
  • Collaborates with Development and Alumni Relations to establish and nurture relationships with organizations with potential for financial support
  • Partners with academic administration to enhance the curricular and co-curricular programming and experiences in entrepreneurship for business and non-business majors at the university
  • Works with office of admission to establish relationships with and programming for high school students interested in entrepreneurship for the purpose of recruiting students to the undergraduate College
  • Maintains and enhances the institute's web presence
  • Serves as a faculty member in School of Business

  The successful candidate must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
Education and Experience
  • Doctorate preferred; or master’s degree/MBA with significant related experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • Five-years work experience to include entrepreneurship or entrepreneurship study.
  • Leadership, program management, and fund-raising skills.
  • Ability to form partnerships with internal and external constituents.
  • Strong written communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Successful track record of designing, implementing, and assessing new initiatives to advance the delivery of high-quality programs and services.
  • Knowledge of and experience in an institution of higher education.
  • Commitment to the Lasallian charism as expressed in the university’s mission, vision, and Lasallian core principles
