Position Responsibilities
Saint Mary’s University Center is a six-room (two floors) banquet and event facility that serves Saint Mary’s University meetings and gatherings and is available for rent to external corporate businesses, nonprofit agencies, educational programs, and private parties.  The Event Services Associate will assist in the planning, coordination, and management of events.  This position will provide excellent customer service to internal and external contacts. Responsibilities include:
  • Inquiries and Event Reservations:  respond to email and phone inquiries, conduct guest showings
  • Event Preparation and Takedown:  room set-up, linens, presentation equipment, display and signage, catering items, etc.
  • Event Supervision:  assist with guest accommodations and the management of events as needed during daytime, evening, or weekend hours
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and highly disciplined with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take initiative to complete projects and duties as assigned
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps (Gmail, Google Docs)
  • Available to work occasional evening and weekends as needed

Education and Experience
Education
  • High school degree/GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience Considerations
  • Event Planning, Coordination, and/or Supervision
  • Restaurant and/or Catering Operations
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign
  • Knowledge of Computer Hardware and Projection Systems
