Position Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Financial Aid Counselor position provides high levels of customer service to students, parents, and other key constituents.  Serves as liaison with other university offices.  Helps manage all aspects of communication with students.  Provides processing support in the areas of awarding, verification, loan certification, and aid reconciliation etc.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Manage e-mail messages, incoming calls, and follow-up procedures for the financial aid office.
  • Work in close collaboration with key offices such as student central and admissions on communication to students regarding financial aid processes.
  • Help resolve student application issues related to financial aid eligibility.
  • Award students following established policy and procedures.
  • Certify individual student loans, and reconcile batch processing of loans.
  • Assist students in understanding their financial aid awards, and financial planning for their educational expenses.
  • Support day to day operations of the office

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1- 3 years of work experience in higher education student services, preferably in financial aid.
