Position Responsibilities

The Marketing Project Manager will support the universitywide advertising, branding, marketing, and communication efforts at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota by overseeing projects and production schedules within the Office of Marketing and Communication. Specific responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of project timelines, resource gathering, timely communications, and documentation. The person in this role maintains strong professional relationships with a variety of internal clients and is responsible, detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, solutions-focused, and client-focused.

Located on the Winona Campus of Saint Mary’s, the Marketing Project Manager oversees the detailed daily intake, scheduling, and tracking of all projects that flow through the Marketing and Communication Office for the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs (based in Minneapolis) and the residential undergraduate college (located on the Winona Campus). Using our online project request platform, this person will receive project requests, meet with various clients/customers to define outcomes, anticipate needs, communicate with all constituents, deploy resources, and meet deadlines. This person works with a supervisor and team members at multiple locations, serving as the link between the Marketing and Communication Office and clients within the university. The manager will also communicate with external vendors to seek quotes, manage projects, and ensure deliverables are met.

  • Occasional travel to campus in Minneapolis, as well as sites in Rochester, Apple Valley, and Oakdale, Minn., and various off-campus vendors   
  • Skills in process improvement that support effective project coordination, production, scheduling, meeting deadlines, and measuring outcomes

Education and Experience

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration, mass communication, graphic design, or related field.
  • Understanding of print and digital marketing,  advertising, print and digital design and an interest in marketing, advertising, strategic communications, graphic design, photography, and videography
  • Experience managing print and digital media projects, working with clients in customer service, and problem solving
  • Broad understanding of project, production, and print management
  • Proficiency with Mac and PC computer platforms and various software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Google Drive and preferably also Creative Suite (InDesign and PhotoShop).
  • Learning agility to continually improve tools and processes for effective project coordination, production, scheduling, meeting deadlines, and measuring outcomes


  • 1-3 years work experience with project management software
  • 1-3 years work experience in a marketing and communication agency or office
