Position Responsibilities
The Partnership Specialist is responsible for partnerships between Saint Mary's University and schools across Minnesota in which graduate students are placed for field experiences. This position collaborates with other members of the Field Placement Office to secure, monitor, and evaluate field placement experiences.
  • Support Field Placement Office Director in his/her administrative and office needs, such as communicating with and visiting K-12 partners, attending meetings, conferences, assisting with projects, preparing correspondence, responding to emails, and other related functions. 
  • Maintain and develop new K-12 school field placement partnerships for the Graduate School of Education teacher licensure preparation programs (Instruction, Special Education, and English as a Second Language) both inside and outside the metro areas of Minnesota, and in select partnership districts in Wisconsin, using phone, email and personal visits; this will include vetting locations for best practice characteristics and cultivating opportunities for diversity in field experiences.
  • Manage and coordinate graduate special education teacher candidates in student teaching placements, as well as additional licensure seekers completing K-12 classroom clinical placements in a variety of school settings.  Review student work and assign grades as needed.
  • Maintain field placement records for the teacher licensure programs. Prepare field placement reports for Graduate School of Education’s administrators and program directors.
  • Communicate field placement processes to students, instructors, school partners, and internal staff.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting teacher licensure field placement data.
  • Assist in distributing field placement materials. Monitor students in a variety of school field placement settings.
  • Assist with student teacher orientation and clinical field placement processes, as needed.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of field placement forms, procedures, processes (applications, orientation forms, evaluation forms, etc.) and systems.
  • Work with licensure program directors in anticipating future placement needs.
  • Assist in managing the Teacher Education Advisory Committee.
  • Assist with various projects as needed for Field Placement Office.

  • Have a proactive approach towards improving processes and systems. Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Have the ability to understand, comply with and communicate teacher licensure related laws and regulations as appropriate.
  • Be dependable and self-motivated with the ability to operate independently, work proactively, and achieve results without constant supervision.
  • Have the ability to learn and navigate a variety of technology platforms (Blackboard, Google Docs, TaskStream etc.).  
  • Have the ability to travel for visits to school sites in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Education and Experience
  • Must have a teaching license, special education license (preferred EBD, LD, and/or ASD), and demonstrated successful K-12 teaching experience.
  • Must have Master’s degree in education or education related field.
  • K-12 Administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience in education settings with diverse learners.
  • Experience supervising teacher licensure candidates.
  • Peer coaching experience preferred.
  • Instruction or administrative experience in higher education preferred.
  • Must have computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
