Position Responsibilities
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota seeks an experienced and enthusiastic individual for the position of Program Director of the Master’s in Social Work program. This is a full-time, annually renewable, benefits-eligible position located in Minneapolis.
 
This motivated individual will be responsible for the leadership, direction, and administration of the program.  Overall responsibilities include:  overseeing and leading development and assessment of the curriculum; recruitment and development of teaching faculty; recruitment, retention, and advising of students; and scheduling of courses.  General administration of the program includes overseeing the budget, supervision of staff, and cultivation of practicum sites and partners.

  • Creation/maintenance of a collegial spirit among students, faculty, and colleagues.
  • Effective interpersonal and supervisory skills in recruitment, performance management, coaching/counseling.

Education and Experience
The qualified candidate will have the following credentials and experience: 
  • A doctoral degree in social work is preferred, although an individual with a master’s degree in social work and extensive experience in the field and in an academic setting will be considered.
  • At least five years practice experience with an interest in maintaining a clinical practice.
  • Experience in higher education is preferred including teaching, program development, and/or administration, and experience with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards.
  • Hold a current LICSW in the state of Minnesota or be eligible for a LICSW.
