Cascade Meadow Wetlands and Environmental Science Center
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota assumed ownership and operation of the Cascade Meadow Wetlands and Environmental Science Center in 2015. Our mission is to establish Cascade Meadow Wetlands and Environmental Science Center as a regional resource for environmental education with an initial focus on energy, water, and wetlands.
Saint Mary’s partners with local grade schools to provide hands‐on STEM curriculum in topics related to energy resources, water resources, and sustainability.
LEED Platinum Certification
The Cascade Meadow facility is LEED Platinum‐certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, recognizing the highest level of environmentally responsible design, construction, operation, and maintenance. The Cascade Meadow grounds, located on Rochester’s northwest side, also features a variety of wetland restoration projects in progress.
We encourage community members and our students, especially those pursuing careers in environmental science, to volunteer at the Cascade Meadow.
Some of the many opportunities are:
- Provide administrative support
- Be an education aid
- Be an energy guru
- Be a gallery guide
Be on the Stewardship Squad for one of our natural areas
