Interdisciplinary Studies Program
Examining society and its pressing issues through the lens of multiple disciplines and perspectives leads to meaningful insights and a new breadth of understanding.
The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota offers the opportunity to engage in learning from a valuable interdisciplinary perspective.
The Benefits of Interdisciplinary Studies
IDS faculty engage across all departments to encourage inquiry, interpretation, and analysis of the complex spiritual, social, aesthetic, and historical traditions and issues that shape our current condition and our futures. Faculty also help students develop an ethical framework for lifelong decision-making in the Christian tradition.
Majors and Minors
No major or minor program is offered by the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. Instead, the principles of the department are shared across all Saint Mary's programs.
Faculty Trained in Many Disciplines
Faculty of the IDS department are trained in multiple academic disciplines and contribute to the common experience of Saint Mary's students in the Lasallian Core Traditions and the Lasallian Honors programs.
