You're already off to a great start on your college search:

JUNIOR YEAR
October to December
  Visit colleges during fall break.
  Attend local college nights, where many colleges come together to meet informally with students.
  Meet with college representatives when they visit your high school.
  Use the college search engine at www.collegeboard.com
January to March
  Register to take standardized tests like the ACT or SAT.
  Meet with your college counselor to draft a prospective college list.
  Investigate schools on your prospective college list.
  Visit prospective colleges over spring break, if possible.
April / May to early June
  Create a resume for yourself so when you begin to apply to colleges, you will remember your activities and honors.
  Take AP Exams.
  Work hard to make your junior-year grades as good as possible!
Mid-June to Mid-August
  Continue to research schools on your prospective college list.
  Remember Minnesota Private College Week – the last week of June!
  Visit prospective schools over the summer, if possible.
  Read college literature and guide books and visit college websites.
  Call, write or email to get on mailing lists for all of your prospective schools.
  Begin working on an essay if your prospective colleges require one.
  Fill out a sample application form to become familiar with the process and collect all the information you will typically need.
     
SENIOR YEAR
Mid-August to September
  Meet with your college counselor to finalize your college application list.
  Re-register to take the ACT, SAT I and/or SAT II, if needed.
  Work on college application essays.
  Decide which teachers you’ll ask to write recommendation letters, if needed.
October
  Watch for Saint Mary's first Group Overnight Visit!
  If you haven't visited already, do so during Minnesota Education Days (formerly MEA).
  Give your college counselor his/her portion of an application at least two weeks before its due date.
  Confirm plans for your teacher recommendation.
November
  Submit your application if you haven't already done so, and don't forget that it's free to apply online at www.smumn.edu/apply!
  Watch for Saint Mary's second Group Overnight Visit.
  Sign up for one of our coveted Chicago interview slots.
December
  Start looking at SMU's Merit-Based Scholarships, getting additional letters of recommendation, essays and other material needed together.
January
  Saint Mary's scholarship applications are due on the 15th!
  Come to our Martin Luther King Jr. Open House and Overnight
  Join us at our annual Twin Cities Reception
  Have your parents take part in a lunch-hour Financial Aid Chat online.
February
  If you haven't already, schedule your auditions for our Music and Theatre Scholarships.
  Watch for our third Group Overnight Visit.
  Come to the Chicago Reception if you live in the area.
March
  FAFSA Priority Deadline – March 15th!
  Watch for our fourth and last Group Overnight Visit.
  Save your spot for one of our coveted Twin Cities interview slots.
April
  Talk or meet with your Admissions Counselor to review your Financial Aid Award.
May
  Saint Mary's Confirmation Deadline is May 1st!
  Select a day for New Student Orientation in June.
  Line up your summer job.
  Get ready to graduate!
June
  Attend one of our three New Student Orientation Sessions
July
  Make certain all final transcripts – both high school as well as college (CIS, PSEO), including AP scores – have been sent to our Registrar's Office.
August
  Move onto campus and into your new home at Saint Mary's!
