M.A. in Instruction
Teacher Licensure
An applicant for initial licensure must successfully complete the following MTLE (Minnesota Teacher Licensure Examination) tests in order to be recommended for licensure:
- The Basic Skills which consists of three subtests: reading, writing and mathematics.
- Test of general pedagogy, which consists of two subtests.
- Test of content knowledge of specific licensure field, which consists of two subtests with the exception of Middle Level Science Endorsements, which consists of two additional subtests and Elementary content knowledge, which consists of three subtests.
All tests are developed by Pearson Education and passing scores are determined by the State of Minnesota.
