Autism Spectrum Disorder Licensure Preparation

Offered within Saint Mary’s Master of Arts in Special Education

This is a new option for educators who are already licensed as a special educator and looking to add ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) licensure. All courses and practicum meet Minnesota ASD standards.

Licensure Program Practicum Overview
We are excited about our partnership to help better serve the ASD community. The Field Placement Office (FPO) works with the Master of Arts in Special Education and Master of Arts in Instruction students to facilitate, place, and review field experiences to ensure eligibility for licensure.
Course Requirements
EDSE661 Characteristics of ASD 3 cr.
EDSE662 Strategies and Assessment of ASD 3 cr.
EDSE684 Practicum 1 cr.
EDSE634 Assistive Technology, Instruction, and Interventions 2 cr.
EDSE607 Literacy Development 3 cr.
EDUC539 Scientifically-Based Reading Instruction for Elementary Teachers 3 cr.
Total: 9-12 cr.
