Nick Ruiz holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and is a Professor Emeritus at Winona State University. He currently serves on the editorial board of Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development and has served on the editorial board of Counselor Education and Supervision. He is a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Minnesota. He has served on the Minnesota Board of Psychology, and is currently serving on the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy, which licenses professional counselors and alcohol and drug counselors in Minnesota. He was part of the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ task force on minimum qualifications for master’s level mental health providers in Minnesota. He volunteers as a supervisor and counselor at Walk-In Counseling Center in Minneapolis, and has over 20 years experience training master’s level mental health professionals. In 2007, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Minnesota Counseling Association, and, in 2010, the Paul Wellstone Legacy Award from the Minnesota School Counselors Association.
