Jay Hoecker is a Medical Doctor (M.D.) in Pediatrics. He is an Emeritus Physician of Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He currently is an editor for Mayo Clinic's education web site. Jay practices as the clinic director in a free in-school clinic at Rochester's Alternative Learning Center, a special middle and high school for students whose needs cannot be met in the routine public schools.

Jay owns a health care mediation business in which he mediates disputes between patients and healthcare providers, as well as disputes within families. Jay received a B.A. In Biology from Westminster College, Fulton, MO, then attended graduate school in mammalian physiology at Louisiana State University followed by Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Following medical school Jay completed a three year residency in Pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, followed by a two year Fellowship in Infectious Diseases of Children at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital, Houston, TX. Jay has been teaching (over a period of 30 years) medically related subjects to medical students, and residents, and of late psychophysiology to students at Saint Mary's University of MN, Rochester.
