Living Learning Communities at SMU
We are pleased to announce the current results of the Living Learning Community Task Force, a collaboration between academics and student life, that has been focused on studying, developing, and helping to launch four Living Learning Communities (LLCs) for implementation for first year students for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The LLCs for fall emerge from our Strategic Plan 2017 Theme 1, Goal 3 Residential Experience: Create a vibrant campus and transformational residential life experience at the College, Objective 3.1 Develop learning and living communities at the College that facilitate the integration of curricular and co-curricular learning. Students in the LLCs will be living in the Saint Edward’s Living Learning Center.
The four Living Learning Communities for fall 2013 -
Focus: Arts, Dr. Janet Heukeshoven (Music) and Professor Lisa Truax (Art & Design)
Focus: Interfaith dialogue, Dr. Daniel Bucknam (Psychology) and Dr. Erich Lippman (History)
Focus: Wellness, Dr. Moni Berg-Binder (Biology) and Professor Chandu Valluri (Business)
Focus: Global issues and local realities (Sports in a global context), Dr. Joseph Tadie (Philosophy) and Dr. Kyle Black (Spanish)
These faculty pairs will be joined by collaborative partners from student life and residence life to form the four LLC teams. Thanks to all who have been a part of this enlivening work on behalf of our incoming students.
