Alumni in Action — Amy Korkowski Oxentenko, medical doctor
Dr. Oxentenko currently serves as the vice chair for education for the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo, and is an associate professor of medicine. She has been one of five core faculty who teaches the GI block at the Mayo Medical School. She is a co-editor for the fourth and fifth editions of Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology and Hepatology Board Review Book. She has been an author for the GI section of the last three editions of American College of Physician’s Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP), and is the GI book editor for the newest edition of MKSAP, and will continue to serve in this role for the next edition as well. She recently started a five-year term as the GI content writer for the Internal Medicine In-Training Examination.
Dr. Oxentenko is the current chair of the American College of Gastroenterology’s (ACG) Women in GI Committee. She serves on numerous educational committees throughout Mayo, and is chair of the GI Education Committee. Additional research interests include duty hours and clerical documentation of trainees, and issues related to work-life balance, given she is in a dual-physician marriage with three school-aged children.
