Alumnus to lead Bush Fellowship program
Prior to being named to this Bush Foundation position, Fleming served as director of admission for The Blake School, a pre-K through 12 school in Minneapolis, since 2000. He’s also served on boards at a variety of community arts and human services organizations.
“Bryan is a true expert at spotting potential in people — especially those who may not always shine by conventional standards,” said Jen Ford Reedy, president of the Bush Foundation. “This is a huge part of what our leadership work is about, and we are excited to have Bryan leading and shaping our programs.”
Fleming is joining the organization at an important time. Applications for 2015 Bush Fellows will begin to be accepted on July 29, and the Foundation is in the process of selecting the inaugural recipients of its Leadership Network Grants, a program that aspires to improve access to leadership development programs.
Since 1965, the Bush Foundation has worked to develop the leadership capacity of the region by making investments in more than 2,200 Bush Fellows.
In 2014 Saint Mary’s University community members have been awarded Bush Fellowships: Sherman Patterson M’13 is creating an immersion program for at-risk youth, focusing on reducing gun violence; Jennifer Waltman, a student in the Doctor of Psychology program, is developing systems to assist in mental-health advocacy and therapy for Native Americans.
