Admission and Application

Admission Requirements
Students may apply for admission at any time during the year and, if accepted, begin the program during any one of the three semesters. A master's degree in an education-related field from a regionally accredited institution, for which applicants maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average, is required for admission.

Application Process

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed application form with the nonrefundable application fee.
  • An official transcript issued to Saint Mary's University from each graduate college or university attended, including an official transcript from the institution posting the applicant's completed education-related master's degree.
***  If you are submitting foreign transcripts, please follow instructions given on the Admissions webpage.
  • A two-page reflective personal statement which includes: a brief description of the applicant's background, training and experience; a statement indicating the career goals of the applicant and his or her strengths and areas in which the applicant wishes to develop greater strengths and abilities; and any personal information the applicant wishes to share.
  • Two letters of reference that verify professional and/or volunteer experience and academic ability.
  • A current résumé or curriculum vitae listing educational background and work experience.

Applicants also must complete an interview with the program staff. Application material must be sent to the attention of the Office of Admission on the Twin Cities campus. The applicant's official transcript will be reviewed by the program director or coordinator to determine credits applicable to this degree.
