What GPA do I need for admission?

Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution and maintained an overall GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale. If the grade point average upon admission is below 2.75, or if a grade point average is not available, the applicant may be admitted with provisional status.

What GMAT Score do I need?

Prospective students are expected to be in the 50th percentile or above in all GMAT sections to be admitted to the SMU PowerTrak MBA program. Students ranking lower than 50% on the verbal and writing portions of the GMAT will be required to take the Foundation writing class (MBA502). Students ranking lower than 50% on the quantitative portion of the GMAT will be required to take the Foundation statistics class (MBA501). Online GMAT practice tests are available.

Is my GMAT from five years ago still good?

No. GMATS more than five years old will not be considered.

Can a GRE be substituted for the GMAT test requirement?

No. The GRE and LSAT cannot be substituted for the GMAT.

I have a Master, Ph.D., EdD., M.D., or J.D. Do I need to take the GMAT?

No. Applicants with previous graduate degrees do not need to take the GMAT.

Are prerequisites required?

Applicants are expected to be ready for MBA level work by having strong writing and quantitative thinking skills. GMAT scores above the 50th percentile will be considered as evidence of strong writing or quantitative skills. Applicants are expected to have knowledge of accounting, finance, marketing and economics. If applicants have taken these at the undergraduate level, with a grade of B or better, they do not need to take the prerequisites. Applicants can also test out of the prerequisites. Applicants can take these courses through Maint Mary's University of Minnesota or any other accredited four year institution.

Where can I find information on Minneapolis?

The Minneapolis metro area is a wonderful place to study. The greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area is even better. Minneapolis has 35 museums and 130 art galleries. The Twin Cities is the only metro area in the country with two orchestras. There is also an opera company, the famous Guthrie Theatre, as well as numerous regional/local theatres. Minneapolis features 22 lakes and 170 parks, and miles of green belts for walking and biking.
