The CIRP Freshman Survey is administered annually by the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA to over 400,000 new beginning freshmen at over 700 colleges and universities nationwide. Through this program we can produce a portrait of each new freshman class.
The following are among the characteristics measured by the Freshman Survey instrument.
Reasons for attending college.
- Expectations for college.
- High school experiences.
- Degree goals and career plans.
- College finances.
- Attitudes, values, and life goals.
- Demographic characteristics
A trend data report of the five most recent administrations (i.e., incoming freshman in the fall semesters of 2001 through 2005) is available in the Office of College Assessment. Comparisons to two national reference groups are featured (i.e., new beginning freshmen at “all four year institutions,” and at “all four-year Catholic institutions of medium selectivity”).
