Personal Counseling

The college years are exciting, but also sometimes stressful. Many students encounter problems that interfere with their studies, with their relationships, or with their own peace and well-being. While these problems cause students to be uncomfortable, they are also opportunities for personal growth.

Personal counseling offers an opportunity to talk over what is on your mind with an objective person who can help you learn new skills and new ways to handle your situation so that you will be more capable of solving new problems in the future.

It is not a sign of weakness to seek counseling, but rather a sign of strength. Students who come to counseling are seeking the best in their life for themselves and are willing to look honestly at their lives and make changes that will allow them to live life to the fullest.

Individual Counseling

Many students meet with a counselor on a one-to-one basis, usually weekly, to work through personal concerns. Most students undertake counseling for one semester or less.

Group Counseling

Groups of students are formed when requested by three or more students. Groups offer the advantage of support and insight from peers as well as from professional counselors.

Presently a Depression and Other Mood Disorder Group meets weekly during the academic year. Please call counseling Services, ext. 1773 for more information about the group.
