The Office of Academic Affairs is headed by Dr. Thomas C. Mans, Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Vice President for Academic Affairs is the primary academic officer of the College and is responsible for curriculum, academic policies and procedures, faculty, faculty development, assessment of student learning, and academic support services. The office serves as a clearinghouse for faculty and curricular issues as well as student academic concerns. The office helps lead efforts to improve teaching and to create an environment that enriches opportunities for effective student learning. The office also seeks to promote a culture of scholarship, research, and performance among undergraduate students and faculty, both individually and in collaboration. Dr. Mans joined Saint Mary's University in June of 2007. Previously he was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and had been a faculty member and academic administrator at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for eighteen years. He also taught at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, and at the University of Iowa. A political scientist, he earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa where he studied American political institutions and processes, and public policy and administration. He earned his B.A. degree (magna cum laude) from St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota with majors in government and history. A native of northeastern Iowa, he is married with four grown children.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs presides over the Academic Council, which meets every two weeks throughout the academic year to assist with management of undergraduate College academics. The Academic Council consists of the following academic administrators:

The Office of Academic Affairs is located in Room 133 in Saint Mary's Hall. The office is staffed during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) throughout the academic year.
