Master’s in International Business
Program Overview

The Master of Arts in International Business (MIB) is designed as an intensive, 16-month program to prepare individuals for international business careers. The combination of theoretical and learning experiences provides students with opportunities to develop the skills to be successful in the modern global marketplace.

Innovative Curriculum

The MIB has a unique curriculum which has been developed to provide education in all aspects of modern international business management, marketing, finance, and law are considered from an international viewpoint and represent the program's foundation. Special emphasis has been placed in "soft skills" development and practical training experiences. Courses in global religions, cultural awareness, ethics, and entrepreneurship address the need and importance of soft skills in today's business arena. Practical training experiences include international field studies, which in the past have taken place in Europe and Asia. In addition, students will visit corporations and complete practicum projects as components of the MIB curriculum.

Accomplished Faculty

Saint Mary's University is proud to offer a high-quality faculty possessing distinguished business and educational credentials. Teaching is the focus of university life and faculty emphasize the importance on high-quality learning experiences. In addition, small class sizes allow for extensive student participation and faculty involvement.

International Students

An international student cohort further enhances the MIB global learning experience. MIB graduates include individuals from Angola, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, Peru, Russian, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand,  Ukraine, United States, and Venezuela. The chance to study, travel and build friendships with individuals from around the world is an enriching opportunity.



Learner Outcomes

Graduates of the Master of Arts program in International Business are expected to be able to:
  • Analyze and apply principles and skills of economics, finance, marketing and management to the contexts and environments of international business.
  • Analyze the geopolitical, social, cultural and religious contexts and environments of international business and apply appropriate principles.
  • Analyze and apply legal and ethical principles to contexts and environments of international business and understand implications of actions. 
  • Design effective international business strategies. 
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of modes.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Work effectively with diverse populations by demonstrating cultural competence and cultural awareness.
  • Continue lifelong learning.
