Professor Jeffrey Hefel (MBA, University of Dubuque) teaches management courses and serves as moderator for the College Republicans. He is a Br. Charles Severin Award winner for excellence in teaching and holds the William M. and Marjorie C. Galvin Endowed Chair for Business.
Dr. Martin E. Judd (Ph.D. Oklahoma State University) teaches in the areas of international business and international trade and economics. Dr. Judd holds the Lawrence A. Carr Endowed Chair for Business.
Dr. Thomas Marpe (Ed.D. Saint Mary's University, M.B.A. Winona State University) teaches many of the marketing, research, and sales courses. The emphasis in his courses are practical application of marketing principles and techniques. His research areas are in higher education marketing, religious/church marketing and geographic information systems.
Dr. Marpe is currently serving as the Business Department chair.
Dr. Patricia M. Sommerville (Ph.D. Saint Louis University) is one of the "oldtimers" in the department, having been at SMU for 25 years. She teaches primarily Financial Accounting and Corporate Finance.
Professor Teresa Speck (M.B.A. University of Wisconsin, La Crosse) is a Certified Management Accountant and Certified in Financial Management. She teaches Business Statistics, Accounting Principles, and Management Accounting and is interested in health care financing.
Professor Shelly McCallum (M.A. Saint Mary's University) teaches Management, Marketing, and International Business courses. Her practical experience in the fields of advertising, marketing, and international business are brought out in the classroom. Research in cross-cultural sensitivity studies/assessment continue to be of primary focus. Professor McCallum is currently on educational leave.
Professor Benjamin Heugel (M.A. Saint Mary's University) teaches Introduction to Business and Accounting courses.
Professor Scott Deml (M.B.A. University of Wisconsin, La Crosse) teaches International Business and Management courses.
Michael D. Sommerville (J.D. University of Minnesota) teaches Criminal Justice and Business Law in addition to American Constitutional Law in the Department of Political Science. He is also the SMU pre-law advisor. Dr. Sommerville has served as law clerk for Judge Gerald Heaney, United States Court of Appeals. |
