Spring Semester – January 8, 2008
Fall Semester – August 26, 2008

COSTS

Tuition for  2008-09 will be $460 per credit. If no graduate credit is transferred in, total cost would be $18,860. The tuition covers all course fees and technology fees, but not textbooks, or room & board. There is a $100 per credit cost for evaluation of credentials for consideration and for award of credit for previous experience and learning (maximum of seven credits). If credit is disallowed, no fees apply.

Tuition and fee amounts are reviewed annually and as such are subject to change.

There is a limited amount of graduate student housing on campus. Rooms are assigned on a first-come basis. Contact the Office of Resident Life for details.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION MATERIALS

Please send the following materials:

  • a completed official application form
  • A non-refundable application fee of $25;
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended;
  • At least 3 letters of recommendation from persons able to evaluate your potential for graduate work;
  • An essay describing why you feel you should be admitted to this program and what you hope to gain from it.
  • A detailed description of any relevant work experience(s) and/or courses you feel might be appropriate candidates for credit for previous experience and learning credits.

Procedures for International Applicants

In addition to the application procedure stated on the Program Information Sheet, international applicants for the Winona campus need to complete the following: (International applicants for the Twin Cities Campus should review the Twin Cities Admission pages for information on requirements)

FINANCIAL CERTIFICATION

Accepted students will need to complete the Non-U.S. CITIZEN STUDENT FINANCIAL INFORMATION form stating you have sufficient funds to cover the fees for tuition, books, and living costs during your first academic year at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. 

Upon acceptance into the Master of Science in Geographic Information Science you will need to submit a depost in the amount of US $300.00 to the university before an INS form I-20 (Certificated of Eligibility for Non-Immigrants) can be issued to the students as a prerequisite for obtaining an F-1 student visa.  The deposit will be credited towards the student's first sememster tuition.
