We are very excited to have you living at Saint Mary’s University. The information on this page is to help you during the move-in process. If you are interested in what to bring, visit the What To Bring To College (Checklist) section of our website. This website is found under Resource & Information. If you have questions that are not answered on this page, check out the Frequently Asked Questions located in this same section. If your question is still unanswered, feel free to contact us at 507-457-1409 or reslife@smumn.edu.
Move-In Day is Saturday, August 23, 2008. Our residence halls will open at 7:30 a.m. Please go directly to your assigned hall if you live in Saint Benilde, Saint Edwards, Skemp, or Vlazny Halls (all other hall residents should pick up their keys at the Information Desk located on first floor Toner Center). The residence hall staff members will greet you upon your arrival. Orientation Leaders and SMU Crew participants will be assisting you with the move-in. As soon as your vehicle has been unloaded, please move it to a parking area away from the residence hall in order to keep the traffic flowing efficiently and safely in and around the campus.
The RA (Resident Assistant) will help you complete the necessary check-in paperwork and provide you with the keys to your hall and room. The RA and other members of the hall staff will be available to answer questions and will begin to facilitate your new experience at SMU.
Please remember that our first-year halls are not air conditioned. In August a fan is important to bring. It is helpful to pack this item last so it can be one of the first items to be removed from your car and plugged in immediately to help with a more comfortable move-in experience.
After lunch the activities for the day begin. There are events planned for both students and parents. One of the major events for both parents and students is the New Student Academic Convocation in the afternoon. This is an occasion for all new students to dress more formally. For men, a shirt and dress slacks are recommended and for women, a dress, skirt or dress pants are recommended.
Have a great summer and we will see you in August! |
