Established in 1953, Vlazny Hall was formerly known as Aquinas Hall and was the first building constructed on the south side of campus. It is located in the heart of the campus near the Toner Student Center and the Fitzgerald Library. The hall’s original name honored Saint Thomas Aquinas, but in May of 1998, however, the hall was renamed to honor Archbishop John G. Vlazny, who served as Bishop of the Diocese of Winona for 10 years. This single-story residence hall houses first year and sophomore women in double rooms. Approximately twenty first year and sophomore women who participate in the Saint Teresa Leadership and Service Institute for Women are housed in a wing of Vlazny Hall. This Institute is a living and learning co-curricular program. The hall is substance free and for the safety of its residents is locked twenty-four hours.
