Frequently Asked Questions

What is so special about the M.A.—Catholic Leadership degree?
Like the founder of the Christian Brothers, St. John Baptist de La Salle, we envision teachers as ministers of grace, and we treat you that way, sharing with you the unique joys and challenges that are part of your professional life.

What are the admission requirements?
Admission requirements include an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution, earned with at least a 2.75 grade point average. If your grade point average is below 2.75, or is unavailable, you may be offered admission with provisional status.

How long does it take to complete the program?
You can complete the program in 18 months, progressing through the program with a cohort of your professional peers, taking one 3-credit class at a time.

When are classes held?
Classes typically meet Monday evenings from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., and a few Saturday mornings. Characteristic of the friendly and supportive environment, cohorts often take turns bringing dinner or organize a weekly potluck buffet.

Where can I take classes?
Classes are held in a location convenient to participants. We have offered the program at Cretin-Derham Hall, Benilde-St. Margaret, Academy of Holy Angels, St. Rose and other schools.

When can I start the program?
You can apply now, and check with us about beginning dates for a cohort near you.

What if I want to go on to earn my K-12 principal’s licensure?
Saint Mary ‘s University offers a 31-credit post-master’s, advanced graduate certificate program leading to the K-12 principal’s licensure. Some students who earn their master’s degree in our program decide to go on to earn their licensure here.
