Find Journal Articles: Indexes and Databases
When you click on a subscription database from off campus you will be asked to supply your user name and password. Children's Literature Comprehensive Database--an independent reviewing source for children's literature designed to help teachers and librarians make appropriate literary choices for students. Reviewers include teachers, librarians, writers, and editors. Also included are interviews with children's book authors and illustrators, themed reviews, curriculum ideas, book awards, and links to related materials.
EBSCO's Academic Search Premier--designed specifically for academic institutions, contains scholarly, multi-disciplinary full text articles and citations from nearly 8,000 journals. Includes over a thousand journals in education. EBSCO citation examples--click "Help" and then on "Citation Styles." Includes APA and MLA.
Education--provides full text access to Sage publications in the area of education. Some 40 journal titles. (1965-current)
ERIC--provides a centralized web site for searching the ERIC bibliographic database of more than 1.1 million research documents and journal article citations going back to 1966. More than 107,000 full-text, non-journal documents (issued 1993-present), previously available through fee-based services only, are available for free. If full text of documents is not online you may use the Fitzgerald Library collection of ERIC documents on microfiche (range ED322286 to ED483046). Citations and abstracts only are provided for journal articles; full text can be obtained through interlibrary loan if the journals are not in our collection. Use the ERIC Thesaurus to find the most effective keywords to use in your search.
Mental Measurements Yearbook --provides a comprehensive guide to over 2,000 contemporary testing instruments. Designed for an audience ranging from novice test consumers to experienced professionals, the MMY series contains information essential for a complete evaluation of test products within such diverse areas as psychology, education, business, and leadership. MMY provides coverage from Volume 9 to the present.
ProQuest Databases--search ProQuest databases singly or in combination (education, psychology, religion, newspapers etc.) Select from the list and hit the "Continue" button to access.
- ProQuest Education Journals--for complete information on hundreds of educational topics, this database covers some 745 leading journals in the field, 600 of which offer full text online (1988-present).
- Wilson's Educational Abstracts and Full Text-- also from ProQuest, for articles on educational issues, many full text. Indexes over 580 journals.
- Dissertations and Theses
Index to dissertations and theses. Provides citations and/or abstracts, as well as a 24-page preview of dissertations that have been digitized in the Humanities and Social Sciences fields (Education is included here). Coverage is from 1861 to present. (ProQuest)

Professional Collection--located in Gale's InfoTrac, provides access to over 300 full text journals for educators. To become familiar with what K-12 students are using in MN, look at the Junior, Kids, and Student Editions as well as at the Junior Reference Collection and the Discovering Collection. Tests in Print--produced by the Buros Institute of Mental Measurements at the University of Nebraska, Tests in Print (TIP) serves as a comprehensive bibliography to all known commercially available tests that are currently in print in the English language. TIP provides vital information to users including test purpose, test publisher, in-print status, price, test acronym, intended test population, administration times, publication date(s), and test author(s).

The Digest includes a selection of data from many sources, both government and private, and draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
