Dean Beckman is a tenured Assistant Professor of Social Science and Coordinator of Mass Communication.  He has been a member of the Communication program since 2001 and coordinator since 2004.

Mr. Beckman has prior professional media experience in news, sports, sales, and public relations. He currently is a co-host of two sports talk shows on a local cable-access channel. One of the shows, “The Cardinals’ Nest,” is a half-hour program devoted exclusively to Saint Mary’s athletics. You can also hear Mr. Beckman doing play-by-play for some SMU basketball and hockey webcasts.

 He is married and has two sons.
