General Sites
  • The Applied and Interactive Theatre Guide is an excellent site for information and resources connected with interactive and participatory theatre presentations.

  • Global Performing Arts Database is a multilingual product from Cornell and other universities, museums, and performing arts organizations.  It includes images, sound recordings, video clips, and more from the collections of participating institutions.
  • McCoy's Guide to Theatre and Performance Studies is a meta-site for theatre arts maintained by Ken McCoy at Stetson University; offers comprehensive listings that are unique or of special interest and listings that provide valuable research tools for the theatre student and professional.
  • Musicals101 is an excellent site for the student of the musical theater, comprising a complete history of the musical theater from operetta to the 1990's, including a year-by-year and alphabetical index of musicals, a calendar of notable dates in the history of musical theater, an extensive photo gallery, and much more. A number of feature essays, devoted to Noel Coward, A Chorus Line, cabaret and several others. Updated almost daily and a tremendous resource for the students and faculty alike.
  • Theatre History on the Web is a great site for accessing the historical record of the theatre; including costume, theatre technology, and acting. A " must see" site for any new technologies and techniques entering the theatre world.

Theatre History
  • CESAR--comprehensive reference source to theatrical entertainments and venues throughout France during the 17th and 18th centuries. Includes an Imagebank with more than 3,500 portraits, playbills, scores, characters in costume,scenes from works, and more.
  • Didaskalia is a website on ancient theater Greek and Roman. "The Journal (section) is the heart of the web-site: an academic journal dedicated to the study of ancient theatre and its legacy in performance. Articles and reviews are contributed by scholars around the world, constituting an invaluable research resource, and a continuously unfolding picture of the history of ancient theatre and its legacy in performance. In the Study area, you will find resources for the study of ancient theatre in performance. "
  • The ELAC Guide to Greek Theater--from the East Los Angeles College Theater School

  • Shakespeare's Globe: Research Database--"This site, sponsored by the University of Reading (UK), is dedicated to providing background information on Shakespearean performance in original conditions. Centred around the construction of a replica of the Globe playhouse in London, it includes pages devoted to the original Globe and other playhouses in Early Modern London, reports and photographic documentaries on reconstruction and performances at the New Globe, and also some practical information. "

Speech Accent Archive--extensive collection of audio clips demonstrating speech accents from around the world.




Dance

 

  • Artslynx --site links to a vast universe of online dance resources, from master sites to video collections to dance-related artwork. An excellent search engine, combined with its range of dance resources, make this one of the best sites for dance on the Web.
  • Voice of Dance--a resource page for dancers-- news, performances & reviews, educational programs & classes, merchandise, and much more.
