Sharon Rodning Bash currently serves as the program director ofArtsLab, a new initiative created by local foundations to develop the programmatic and operational capacity of small arts organizations. Her previous experience includes work in organizational development, grant management, community assessment, strategic planning and implementation. She has an intensive background as a trainer and facilitator. Sharon teaches Management of Nonprofit Organizations and Cultural Programming & Evaluation.
Michael Arfsten B.A., M.A. California State University M.B.A. St. Mary's University of Minnesota
Michael Arfsten currently serves as Chief Information Officer for Southside Community Health Services, Inc. in Minneapolis. His previous experience has included positions as chief executive officer and chief finance officer. Previous teaching experience included lecturing in research methodology and statistics at the California School of Professional Psychology and finance courses in the M.B.A. program at St. Mary's University. Michael teaches Nonprofit Financial Management.
Elizabeth Bames P.M. Northwestern University M.M. Catholic University of America D.M.A. University of Minnesota
Elizabeth Bames has extensive experience working both as a conductor and a variety of administrative positions working for orchestras, opera companies, and other musical groups. Currently, she serves as the founding director of Vox Corda, a string music performance and education program. She has a rich background in musical outreach and education, working for a number of organizations including Young Audiences of Minnesota, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Opera Carolina. Elizabeth teaches Arts Education.
Anne Johnson B.S. Florida Southern College J.D. Kent College of Law
Anne Johnson is now in independent practice after many years working with Travelers Insurance Company in the special liability group. Her functions were concentrated on advisement and training related to management of litigation expenses. She has extensive experience serving on boards and committees of various nonprofits. Anne co-teaches the Ethics and Arts Law course.
Aimee M. Bissonette B.S. Colorado State University J.D. University of Minnesota
Aimee has worked as a lawyer, teacher, and writer since 1987. Through her firm, Little Buffalo Law & Consulting, she helps her clients understand legal and ethical issues, institute compliance and training programs, and develop best practices for their businesses. She has extensive teaching experience at Saint Mary's University, Inver Hills Community College, and William Mitchell College of Law. Aimee co-teaches the Ethics and Arts Law course.
Tom Borrup B.A., M.A. Goddard College
Tom Borrup is a consultant and writer focusing on philanthropy, strategic planning, artist development, the role of culture and the arts in community, and economic development. He is the former executive director of Intermedia Arts Minnesota, and has served on the boards of directors for the Jerome Foundation, Appalshop, Phillips Community TV, the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture, and Philanthrofund Foundation. Tom teaches the Cultural Studies course.
Doug Eichten B.A. Saint Mary’s University M.A. University of Minnesota
Doug Eichten is president of DEI, which provides marketing and development services to public radio organizations throughout the United States. Previously, he served a variety of prominent organizations as vice president or director—Public Radio International, United HealthCare Corporation, Physicians Health Plan, and the Guthrie Theatre. Eichten teaches Marketing for Nonprofits.
Lawrence Gorrell B.A. Saint Mary’s University M.F.A. CUNY/Brooklyn College
Lawrence Gorrell founded the Arts Administration program in 1991, and after many years as the dean of the School of the Arts for Saint Mary's University, now serves as Executive Director of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. The former director of Theatre Operations for City Center Theatre on Broadway in New York City, he teaches Cultural Policy and Leadership.
John Roth B.A., J.D. University of Minnesota
John Roth is an attorney in private practice serving arts-related clients including authors, playwrights, film and video producers, nonprofit corporations, visual artists, galleries, publishers, designers, photographers, and others. In addition to his legal practice, John has founded numerous art-related nonprofit corporations and is a trustee for life for the Minnesota Citizens for the Arts. He teaches Ethics and Arts Law at Saint Mary's.
Christopher Stevens B.A. University of Wisconsin—Madison M.A. New York University
As development director at the Walker Art Center, Christopher Stevens raised more than $94 million in support of the Walker’s expansion project. He previously worked in fund development for Henry Street Settlement and South Street Seaport Museum in New York City. Christopher frequently addresses national conferences on museums and museum development, and he teaches the Fund Development course. |
