Paul Thuras is a statistician and research methodologist working primarily in mental health settings. Dr. Thuras earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine and his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College. He completed postdoctoral training at the Philadelphia Geriatric Center and was a Brookdale National Fellow. Trained as a social gerontologist with strong training in statistics and methodology, Dr. Thuras has worked primarily as a statistician for over a decade, holding positions in Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota and currently in the Psychiatry Department at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.
Dr. Thuras is a co-author on over 70 research articles, is an investigator on three federally funded grants, and consults regularly with faculty at the University of Minnesota. In addition to courses in statistics and methodology, he has taught courses on the psychology of death and dying and the psychology of aging.
