All faculty and staff figures and charts are based on a snapshot of employees at one point in the fall, generally, November 1 of each year. Staff data has traditionally been collected on odd numbered years to meet the mandatory government reporting requirements, IPEDS. Faculty data is compiled annually.
The number of full-time staff has steadily increased over a five year period, 2003-2007, reflecting the need to serve a growing and more diverse student body (see Chart 4).
In November of 2007, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota employed 455 full-time faculty and staff and 578 part-time faculty and staff (see Charts 1 and 4). Of the part-time employees, 490 were faculty, the majority of who teach in the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs. Of the full-time employees, 105 were faculty, 96 of whom teach in the College.
The gender breakdown of faculty and staff has traditionally been near 50% female and 50% male (see Charts 2 and 5). Historically, the majority of faculty and staff have been white, non-Hispanic; in November of 2007, 92% of faculty and staff were white, non-Hispanic (see Charts 3 and 6).
