• Recommending broad guidelines for faculty development.
  
• Developing a formative evaluation instrument for use as the Individual Program of Professional Development (Section 3.5.9 Faculty Handbook) and conducting formative reviews of tenured faculty.
  
• Recommending institutional changes which are supportive of faculty development or which are necessitated by faculty development.
  
• Reviewing proposals and advising the academic Vice President on funded faculty development programs.
  
• Reviewing tenured faculty as they apply for sabbatical leave or at least once every six years as indicated in Section 3.5, Evaluation Criteria for Faculty, in the Faculty Handbook. The review for sabbatical shall include a recommendation to the academic Vice President as to whether the sabbatical shall be granted.
  
• Maintaining a Faculty Evaluation Subcommittee.
  
• Electing one of its full‑time faculty members to the Executive Committee.
