Program Information: B.S. Human Resource Management

The goal of this Bachelor of Science degree completion program is to prepare individuals with the human resources functional and management skills required to work effectively at a professional level in a continually changing human resource environment. The program’s focus is on the development of individual skill sets at the operational level to prepare students for administrative, specialist and generalist human resource functions and positions with an emphasis on becoming a valued partner within the organization.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management are expected to be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the skill and knowledge necessary to perform in the traditional areas of human resource management, including staffing, employee/labor relations, compensation, benefits and individual/ organizational development.
  2. Participate within the total organization to identify, collaborate and implement business solutions.
  3. Partner with management and departments to recognize and implement change.
  4. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic management initiatives.
  5. Facilitate teams and work groups.
  6. Understand the use of technology in human resource management.
  7. Work effectively with diverse populations.
  8. Communicate effectively in a variety of modes.
  9. Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  10. Understand the ethical implications of their actions.
  11. Demonstrate the general education competencies.

Degree Requirements


A minimum of 122 credits is required for graduation with a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Mary’s University.  All students must meet the ten general education competencies. A minimum of 36 credits are needed to complete the
B.S. in Human Resource Management:
