Program Information

Health and human service organizations are challenged to provide quality services while addressing demographic shifts, funding pressures, changes in national and local policy and many other complex issues. These challenges require knowledgeable, skilled, and innovative administrators and managers.

 

Increasingly, health and human service organizations are working together to offer consumers a continuum of services that meet a wide variety of needs. By working collaboratively, these organizations will be able to provide needed services while maximizing efficiency and resources.

 

The Master of Arts in Health and Human Services Administration program is designed to help professionals gain the knowledge, perspectives, and skills needed to successfully lead and manage organizations in the health and human service field.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Master of Arts in Health and Human Services Administration program are expected to be able to:

  1. Understand and apply general management and administration principles.
  2. Incorporate knowledge of financial, legal, marketing, and human resource issues related to working in health and human services organizations.
  3. Identify and analyze the impact of complex social, economic, and political forces on health and human services organizations.
  4. Use information technology to improve the management of health and human services programs.
  5. Communicate effectively in a variety of modes.
  6. Have insight into personal biases regarding diverse cultures and work effectively with diverse populations.
  7. Understand the ethical implications of one's actions.
  8. Demonstrate critical thinking by integrating current research into practice in one's professional area.
  9. Develop strategies for updating and integrating knowledge and skills gained in graduate education with professional practice.
