Program Information

Program Overview

The Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia is an academic degree program that was established in 1981. It offers students enrolled in the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia a master of science degree. The university believes in building and developing on the baccalaureate base with emphasis on a strong scientific and technical background.

Program Objective

This program is for qualified registered professional nurses who wish to earn a master of science degree while pursuing education as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). The objective of the program is to prepare nurses for positions of leadership on the health care team.

Program Philosophy

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Master of Science program in Nurse Anesthesia originated in response to the need for graduate level education in the field of nurse anesthesia. With this in mind, Saint Mary’s University developed a cooperative program with the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia that leads to a master of science degree in Nurse Anesthesia. This comprehensive program combines the course work offered at Minneapolis School of Anesthesia with selected additional requirements leading to a master of science degree.
