Collegiate athletics has been a key part of the Saint Mary’s University experience from the days of the Redmen in the early 1920’s to the present Cardinal athletes. Alumni, parents, and fans reflect on Saint Mary’s with memorable and defining moments involving athletics. Whether it is playing on the outdoor hockey rink, remembering baseball’s 13 conference championships, recalling the feeling of welcoming home the National Championship softball team, congratulating our latest All-Americans in track and field, and countless other memories, we all have something to share regarding Cardinal Athletics.
The athletic department and Saint Mary’s University continues to be committed to giving our student-athletes the tools needed to be successful – both on and off the field of competition. We have set our vision and our definition for success:
Sports competing in their conference tournament.
Student-athlete grade point averages equivalent to or better than the general student population.
Leadership and community service experiences for our student athletes, helping to produce successful graduates who will become ethical leaders in society.
