Student Activities Committee (SAC) (Facebook | Twitter) Members of SAC are the Student Senate committee that is responsibe for planning, organizing, and facilitating activities that are social and recreational in nature for the entire SMU community. SAC members plan activities such as hypnotists, movies, Casino night, concerts, comedians, and more. KSMR-FM (Facebook | Twitter) KSMR-FM is a student run radio statin that provides a learning environment for students interested in radio broadcasting. Mosaic literary magazine (Facebook | Blog) Cardinal Legacy yearbook Members of the Cardinal Legacy staff take photographs, write copy and design layouts. Students work throughout the year to produce the yearbook. Campus Ministry & Volunteering + More Big and Little Pals:Big and Little Pals serve the community by matching SMU student volunteers with elementary school students in Winona. Big and Little Pals spend time with and act as role models for children of diverse backgrounds. Buddies (Facebook): Buddies aim to reinforce self-esteem, foster valuable friendships, and create a healthy environment where the developmentally disabled can enjoy various group activities. De La Salle Week:A week of activities that celebrates the life and heritage of Saint John Baptist de la Salle and the Christian Brothers. Discernment Group Fellowship of Christian Athletes: FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. Habitat for Humanity:Students contribute to the Winona community through volunteering time to help build and renovate houses and assist in fund-raising activities in the area. Lasallian Collegians: This organization is dedicated to faith, community, and service guided by the vision of St. John Baptist de La Salle. In addition to local outreach projects, the students connect with Lasallian Collegians throughout the Midwest in an annual retreat and service project. Lasallian Week of Peace: A week of activities and speakers focused on justice and advocacy of the Lasallian call to live the Catholic Social Teachings in our personal lives. Leadership Formation Day: Gaint the skills to be an effective student group leader on campus in faith-forming activitites. Mission Awareness: Assist in planning and promotion of CTIE and Lasallian heritage events on campus. Outreach Retreat Team: Plan and facilitate Confirmation retreats for parishes in the Diocese of Winona. ConChord (Power Hour): Gather weekly to sing God's praise through ecumenical worship. Catechists: Assist local parishes with their faith formation. Serving Others United in Love (S.O.U.L): The purpose of S.O.U.L. is to provide Saint Mary's students and faculty with the opportunity to serve and be served through mission trips and urban plunges. Our goals include serving those we meet while on our trips, as well as building faith and community among our group's participants. The organization works to create teams for the Relay for Life on campus. Delta Psi Alpha Film Sun Film Sun is the film society and filmmaking club on campus. This group watches and critiques movies that out of the normal mainstream movie theaters. Future Alumni Committee (Facebook) This group acts as a liaison between alumni and current students in an attempt to connect past, present, and future. Inter-Cultural Awareness Association (ICAA) It is the goal of ICAA to work closely with the administration to empower all members of this community to come together to challenge, inspire, and liberate ourselves from the fears and prejudices which impair our ability to achieve our full potential International Students Club (ISC) The aim of I.S.C. is to promote better involvement of international students in Saint Mary’s student community and the local cultural life. Knights of Columbus The Knights of Columbus is a men's organization focused on prayer and fraternity among its members. The Knights are also an organization, which prides itself in serving, helping, and supporting the local community of Saint Mary's University and Winona Peace & Justice Club Peace and Justice educates the Saint Mary’s community on issues concerning social justice. Participation in grassroots democracy and the political process are elements of the mission of the club. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Phi Mu Alpha encourages and actively promotes the highest standards of creativity, performance, education and research in the U.S. Members promote an awareness of music through activities such as the Blue Angel and Gaslight music shows, and technical support for student activities on campus. S.A.F.E. SMU Leadership Certificate Program Students for Life Students for Life at Saint Mary’s promotes the right to, preservation of, and respect for all life from conception to natural death. Taylor Richmond Benefit Dance Committee Each year the Taylor Richmond Benefit Dance Committee picks a cause that they feel is worthy of a fund raising effort, and then plans a formal dance from which all profits are donated to the cause. Art Club This group promotes interest in art at SMU through activities such as trips, movies, art projects, and demonstrations. Association of Supervision & Curriculum Development (Education) This group works in conjunction with the Education Department and deals with aspects of curriculum with future teachers. Biology Club This group provides an opportunity for educational and social interaction among students interested in biology. Activities include trips to state parks, museums, wildlife adoptions, and canoe/camping trips. Business Professionals of America This group provides opportunities for members to grow and develop skills for future business careers. Chemistry Club The Chemistry Club works to promote the study of chemistry among faculty and students. Students attend national conferences to present their research. Math Club The Math Club provides opportunities for students with an interest in math to gather with fellow students and faculty socially, and at meetings where math ideas, puzzles, and problems are shared. Mary's University Students of English (MUSE) MUSE meets to discuss topics of interest in the literature, takes trips, and listens to guest speakers. Music Industry Club The purpose of the club is to promote interest in and education about the music industry. Physics and Astronomy Club This group explores the new advancements into physics research as well as the classic theories and principles first thought of by such scientists like Newton and Einstein. Psychology Club The objective of this group is to promote Psychology and to provide a vehicle for exploring psychological issues in the hopes of furthering theoretical and practical knowledge as it pertains to students and campus life. Public Relations & Business Club This organization provides activities for communication and business majors and minors to assist members in professional development. Seekers of Sophia (Philosophy Club) The purpose of Seekers of Sophia is to give students who have a common interest in philosophical thought to gather and dialogue about various philosophical topics. SMU Historical Society The SMU Historical Society is an organization mainly for history majors. Activities include guest speakers, visiting historical sites, watching plays, and organizing campus-wide activities. Sports & Recreation-Related Groups + More Ballroom Dance Club: Students interested in learning dances such as the tango, swing, and waltzes should consider joining. The club meets every other week. Cardinal Athletic Council (CAC): CAC is a voice for the student-athletes of SMU. This organization handles issues regarding MIAC/NCAA legislation as well as issues pertaining to the Saint Mary’s and Winona communities. Cheerleading Club: The Cheerleading Team practices during the week and performs at the home men’s basketball games. Dance Team: The SMU dance team provides organized aerobic exercise in the form of dance to the SMU community. It also emphasizes school spirit through dance routines that are performed at athletic events and competitions. Fencing Club: The purpose and objective of the Fencing Club is to promote the growth and support of fencing and to provide instruction of the proper technique of fencing. Lacrosse Club (Men’s and Women’s): The Lacrosse Club is a club sport that teaches better understanding of the game. The team practices and participates in tournaments and games throughout the mid-west during the spring season. Outdoor Club: The outdoor club helps promote outdoor recreation opportunities in the Winona area and beyond. Kayak, canoeing, and biking outings are normal for this club. Paintball Club: Members compete in paintball competitions around the Winona area and also in national competitions. Rugby Club: The purpose and objective of the Rugby Club is to promote the growth and support of rugby and to provide instruction of the proper technique of rugby. Ski & Snowboard Club SMU Crew: The SMU Crew serves as the student pep club for athletic events. SMU CREW organizes the fan base and runs contests at the events to help promote school pride. SMU Scuba Club: The objective of this club is to promote safe diving through education and practice, promote an appreciation for the underwater world, and share the enjoyment of the underwater world with other students SMU Trout Unlimited Ultimate Frisbee Club: The Saint Mary’s Ultimate team competes regionally against other colleges and universities. The team practices twice weekly and has weekend tournaments in Winona and the surrounding area. Water Polo Club: The Water Polo Club is a club sport that teaches better understanding of the game. The team practices and participates in tournaments and games throughout the season.
