Improve your Spanish skills in Mexico

Every summer, a special intensive Spanish language and culture program is offered at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. Courses include Spanish, Mexican history and culture. The program incorporates field trips to places such as the Pyramids at Teotihuacan and Cuernavaca.

Universidad La Salle
Universidad La Salle is a private, Christian Brother school established in 1962 with branch campuses throughout Mexico.

Courses
Students in this program take the following courses.

Housing
As a part of this program, you participate in a "homestay" where you are housed with a Mexican family, usually within a short distance from campus.

Costs
Please contact the director of Study Abroad for program costs.

Since the Mexico City, Mexico, summer abroad program does not occur during the regular academic year, Federal, State, and SMU institutional aid may not be applied to the program's costs.

Students should research the details of non-SMU scholarships for applicability and see the Director of Study Abroad for other scholarship and grant opportunities.

Application Procedures
To be eligible, you must have completed at least two semesters of Spanish or the equivalent, be a second semester sophomore and have at least a 2.0 GPA (preferably a 2.5 GPA).
