The university-wide responsibilities handled by the Office of Information Technology include support of administrative and academic computing systems which are accessed by students, faculty and staff. This includes support for WebTools (online information for students, faculty and staff), WebMail (university email), Blackboard (course management system), EZPROXY (access to library databases), and the Tegrity (video capture system for course lectures).
Information Technology manages the university’s HelpDesk which provides technology support to the university. The HelpDesk provides tutorials and training in addition to troubleshooting and general technology information.
On the Winona campus, additional responsibilities include telephone, cable television, classroom and computer lab technology, the campus wired and wireless data networks, residence hall computing, and the campus internet connection.
The Information Technology Department works closely with the Instructional Technology Department which provides direct support to faculty on use of technology for teaching, and the Communication and Marketing Office, which maintains the university website.
