Current issues of globalization, ecological issues, oil politics and Plan Colombia are addressed. Models of community participation, organization, development and social change are compared and contrasted.

Costs/Scholarships
This HECUA semester abroad is an SMU Affiliated Program. As such, all Federal and State aid (except work study) and up to $2,000 in SMU institutional aid may be applied to the program's costs. Contact the Director of Study Abroad to discuss program fees and financial aid.

Program Dates/Application Deadline
The Fall Semester 2012 program dates are September 5 through December 14, 2012. The application deadline is March 15, 2012.
The Spring Semester 2013 program dates are February 6 through May 17, 2013. The application deadline is November 1, 2012.
Application Procedures
To be eligible, you must have completed the equivalent of two years of college Spanish, have at least a 2.0 GPA (preferably a 2.5 GPA), and be of sophomore status.
