The University of Minnesota offers a study abroad program at Paul Valéry University, the liberal arts division of the University of Montpellier. Montpellier is one of France's fastest growing cities and an emerging cultural and educational center. It is home to 100,000 university students and is the ideal place for an introduction to the French language and culture.
The program is designed for students at beginning and intermediate language levels. Participants may choose either a four- or eight-week term and will receive credit for one language course for each four-week term.
Since the Montpellier, France summer abroad program does not occur during the regular academic year, Federal, State, and SMU institutional aid may not be applied to the program's costs.
Students should research the details of non-SMU scholarships for applicability and see the Director of Study Abroad for other scholarship and grant opportunities.
