Freshman Admission
Applying to Saint Mary's as a freshman

Who should apply to Saint Mary’s as a freshman, or first-year, student?

  • Current high school students
  • Current college students with fewer than 12 earned credits
  • Current Minnesota high school students who have earned college credits as part of the PSEO dual-enrollment program
  • Current high school students who have earned college credits via any other program (CLEP, AP, IBP, PACC, etc.)

Please note that students from a foreign country should apply for International Admission.

Freshman applicants must submit the following to the Office of Admission:

  1. An application for undergraduate admission (choose one the following):
  2. A $25.00 non-refundable application fee, IF using the SMU printed application
  3. An official transcript of your high school grades, sent directly from your high school
  4. A score report from one of the following tests, sent directly from the testing agency:
    American College Test (ACT) – SMU code: 2148, OR
    Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – SMU code: 6632
  5. A 250-word essay
  6. Letter(s) of recommendation
