Interdisciplinary Studies Program

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies provides students with the opportunity to engage in learning from an interdisciplinary perspective. Faculty of the department are trained in a number of academic disciplines and by their teaching contribute to the common experience of the Saint Mary's students in the Lasallian Core Traditions and the Lasallian Honors Programs. Faculty of the department seek to help students acquire and refine the knowledge and skills needed to describe, evaluate, and respond appropriately as individuals and as members of society to our current condition. Members of the IDS department encourage processes of inquiry, interpretation, and analysis that join together the complex spiritual, social, aesthetic, and historical traditions and issues that shape our futures. Faculty help students develop an ethical framework for lifelong decision-making in the Christian tradition.

No major or minor program is offered by the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies.
